For higher-education teachers

The business game
for your course.

Your students start and run a company in an online economy of their own: they produce, sell, borrow and read their own financial statements. You set the rules of the game.

What your students do

Real decisions, real accounts

Every decision shows up in the company's accounts. Students have to justify it, and live with the consequences.

Start and organise a company

Students found their company as a team, share out roles and rights, and vote on major decisions such as admitting a partner or taking out a loan.

Produce and sell

Land, machines, labour, raw materials: around thirty products, from ore to electric motors. Sales go through a player market, contracts between companies and a state market that regulates prices.

Finance the business and report

Balance sheet, income statement, cash flow: every company has its own financial statements. It borrows according to a credit score computed from its accounts; if it fails to repay, it defaults, then goes into liquidation.

An economy shared by the class

The whole class plays in the same world: land, customers and prices are shared. Competition between teams is real, and rental property adds a second line of business.

FAQ

Before you start

What equipment do students need?

A recent web browser, on a computer or a phone, and a free Investycoon account. Nothing to install.

Do I need to be an expert in the game to run it?

No. We set up the server with you and support you throughout the semester.

What happens after the pilot?

Nothing automatic: the server stops at the end of the pilot, with no billing. If you want to continue from autumn 2027, we will draw up a proposal for your institution.

What if your next cohort learned by running a company?

Let's talk about your course in 30 minutes.
